The domination of both 125-class motos at Budds Creek last Sunday by Kawasaki’s James “Bubba” Stewart may have finally driven home the point. This kid is not just fast, he is crazy fast. Probably, faster than Ricky Carmichael was at the same age. That’s crazy fast.
His up-and-down (literally) performance in the 125 West Supercross series displayed the same types of first-year jitters Carmichael displayed. Now, perhaps, Stewart will settle down and stay on two wheels and win the AMA 125 Outdoor National championship in his first year as a pro, just like Carmichael. A couple of years ago, when Carmichael said “I better get my championships before Bubba gets here”, we could not know exactly what he was talking about. Now, we do.
