Yamaha’s David Vuillemin won his third 250 main event in the AMA Supercross series tonight in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Vuillemin quickly overtook Kawasaki’s Ricky Carmichael, and led for most of the race. He stretched his lead near the finish, with Honda’s Mike LaRocco finishing second and a hard-charging Jeremy McGrath (Yamaha) finishing third.

Kawasaki’s Carmichael crashed and ultimately ended the race in 19th place.

Vuillemin has now won two of the three rounds of the Vans Triple Crown of Supercross, with the final Vans race held at the end of the series in Las Vegas, Nevada. If Vuillemin wins in Las Vegas, he will be awarded $500,000.00

Shae Bentley (Kawasaki) won his second Western AMA 125cc Supercross main event this year, leading the majority of the race and pulling away to victory over Yamaha’s Greg Schnell in second and Honda’s Chris Gosselaar in third.

McGrath maintains a 25 point lead over Vuillemin in the series championship race, and Bentley has a 10 point lead over Suzuki’s David Pingree in the West Coast 125cc championship race.
