Before there was Bubba Stewart, there was Travis Pastrana. Before there was Chad Reed, there was Travis Pastrana. The guy who was going to dominate both motocross and supercross racing. Remember?
After countless injuries (including, most notably, concussions and knee injuries), is Pastrana really ready to focus on racing the entire 250 Outdoor National Motocross championship? Is he fit? Can he, as Roger DeCoster has been quoted, win the National championship if he remains healthy throughout the season?
If you saw Travis Pastrana ride a motorcycle when he was healthy and in shape, you will never forget it. He is that good, and he is that fast. DeCoster says he is ready to win outdoors, and Pastrana claims he has been in shape for several weeks (he has been begging DeCoster to ride the last few supercross races).
Ricky Carmichael will face new challenges this year outdoors, and Travis Pastrana is one of the most important challenges. Pastrana could surprise people by showing up next Sunday at Glen Helen with the speed and conditioning of the old Travis. We will see.
