Shortly after our editorial questioning the judgment of Stefan Everts’ decision to contest both the 125cc class and the Motocross GP class at each remaining round of the World championship this year, Everts proceeded to win both the 125cc and the Motocross GP classes convincingly on the same day, yesterday. The historic event brought Everts total GP victory count to 56 (also a record).
In interviews following his stellar performances, Everts did state that his ride in the 125cc class (aboard his Yamaha YZ250F) proved to be a great advantage by teaching him the lines, and allowing him to go fast on the very first lap of the Motocross GP event. He did also state that he was physically exhausted after the experience, and some tracks might not lend themselves quite so well to the “daily double”.
