When Stefan Everts won two separate classes (Motocross GP and 125cc) on the same day in Italy earlier this year we thought, perhaps, he would not be able to duplicate that feat. We were wrong, of course, as Everts rode even more impressively last weekend in Austria to win both classes (on his YZ450F and YZ250F four-strokes).
In the process, Everts battled multi-time 250cc World champion Mickael Pichon (Suzuki) throughout the Motocross GP race, and got the better of him. This is the first time Everts has beaten Pichon in a fair fight (Pichon crashed out of contention in Italy).
As Everts re-writes the history books, it is a great pleasure to watch this smooth and confident champion . . . now dominating two separate classes, simultaneously.
