AMA launches Get Out and Ride For A Cause! Week

Philanthropy is the next week’s focus during AMA Get Out And Ride! Month

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce that AMA Get Out and Ride For A Cause! Week launches this weekend, the third week of the month-long AMA Get Out And Ride! campaign.

“Motorcyclists are well known for their generosity, kind spirits and warm hearts, and this week we are honoring the hundreds of thousands of riders who do their part to make life better for others, and for their support of motorcycling,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman.

AMA members and riders are encouraged to visit the AMA Facebook page at Facebook.com/AmericanMotorcyclist to share their stories about the many causes they support, and to enter the AMA Get Out and Ride! Month trivia contest.

Longtime AMA supporter Helmet House is rewarding one lucky AMA member each week with a Tour Master Saber Series 3 riding jacket during the trivia contest. The weekly winner will be drawn at random from correct AMA member submissions in the contest, and his or her name will be posted each Friday on both the AMA Facebook page and website. Contest rules are posted at www.americanmotorcyclist.com/Riding/GetOutAndRide/TriviaRules.aspx.

In addition to participating in a wide range of AMA-sanctioned charity rides, many motorcyclists support events and organizations that directly benefit motorcycling. Each July at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, tens of thousands of motorcyclists assemble for AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days, which benefits the non-profit AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame located on the AMA campus in Pickerington, Ohio. This year the theme at AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days is Rockers and Mods, and the July 20-22 celebration of all things motorcycling includes vintage racing, seminars and the largest motorcycle swap meet in North America.

Another important program during AMA Get Out And Ride! Month is Freedom Friday. By spotlighting issues that threaten motorcycling, AMA members learn what they can do to protect the future of motorcycling. This week the threat comes from the discriminatory practice of motorcycle-only checkpoints. More details and action steps are available here: http://capwiz.com/amacycle/issues/alert/?alertid=50597671.

Each April, the AMA Get Out And Ride! Month campaign encourages motorcyclists to do what they enjoy best – ride motorcycles on America’s roads, tracks and trails. AMA members are also encouraged to submit riding stories, photos and videos throughout AMA Get Out and Ride! Month to submissions@ama-cycle.org. The best stories will be featured on the AMA Get Out and Ride! Month blog.
