Race 1 in Assen earlier today resulted in a nine lap sprint after a red flag dropped to stop the race due to a torrential rainstorm.  Several riders slid out on the wet track after the restart, which saw Sylvain Guintoli (Ducati) take the win ahead of Davide Giugliano (Ducati) in second and Carlos Checa (Ducati) in third).  The second race was won by Honda’s Jonathan Rea ahead of Guintoli in second and Eugene Laverty (Aprilia) in third).
