With the final round of the inaugural AMA Supermoto series approaching this Friday in Las Vegas, we wonder where supermoto racing will go from here in the United States. The AMA series has not drawn particularly large crowds, but there has been good television coverage (although delayed, not live).

There is no doubt the racing is close and exciting, and much easier to watch than roadracing (where the tracks are so large the riders disappear from view for much of the track).

Will supermoto in the U.S. eventually attract live audiences as large as those watching supercross in the major stadiums? That would be a lofty goal, but not outside the realm of possibility. In any event, supermoto has proven to be a great series for retired and semi-retired riders from several disciplines (particularly, motocross).
