Six-time nominee Chris Carr won his first AMA Speed Channel Athlete of the Year award Saturday evening in Las Vegas. The winningest active rider in AMA Flat Track competition took the award over fellow nominees Mat Mladin, Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart and Dave Watson. Carr won his fifth championship this year — only the second rider to achieve that plateau in Flat Track championship competition (Scott Parker is the other).
