With crashes claiming stars Colin Edwards (Honda) and Frankie Chili (Suzuki) during SuperPole, Aprilia’s Troy Corser emerged with the quickest time and pole position for Sunday’s position. Yamaha’s Noriyuki Haga qualified second (Haga is appealing the FIM suspension levied against him several weeks ago — and is apparently racing this weekend).
American Ben Bostrom (NCR Ducati) was third quickest after regular qualifying, but nearly crashed during SuperPole (the track is extremely slick), and will start fourteenth on the grid.
Chili was apparently injured during his SuperPole crash, but we do not know the extent of those injuries at this time.
