Spy photos published on various web sites show the 2005 KX450F, in pre-production form (while being tested at a Japanese motocross event) with an aluminum perimeter frame. Kawasaki was the first major manufacturer to utilize a perimeter frame on a motocross bike (in 1990), but it was made from steel, and still is to this day. With Suzuki already showing its RMZ450 motocrosser in pre-production trim with an aluminum frame, and rumors swirling that Yamaha has aluminum frames on the way, is aluminum about to become the frame material of choice for motocrossers? Apparently, it is.
