England’s Motorcycle News claims Aprilia will be introducing an RSV450 sportbike, built around the 450cc v-twin found in the Aprilia supermoto that will be competing in Europe this year. If such a bike is in the works (and it does make sense that it would be), it could easily weigh less than 300 pounds on the road, more than 50 pounds lighter than the latest 600cc, four-cylinder sportbikes. In other words, it could be as light as a single, but much more powerful and faster. With large displacement sportbikes really reaching the level of vast overkill for street use, could we see a new-found interest in ultra-light, small-displacement street machines? We hope so.
