Ducati has expanded the Multistrada range both up and down for 2005 – releasing a less-expensive 620cc version, as well as a sportier 1000S model.
The Multistrada 620 (also available in ‘Dark’ livery) uses the same air-cooled 618cc engine found in the Monster 620. The 620 is both smaller (20mm shorter seat height) and lighter (28 pounds) than its 1000cc big brother.
On the other end of the price range is the new Multistrada 1000S DS. The 1000S uses the same 1000cc Dual Spark motor as the original Multistrada, but features upgraded suspension to improve the bike’s sporting capabilities. Ohlins forks and shock replace the Showa units found on the standard bike. The 1000S also carries various carbon-fiber body pieces.
The entire Multistrada line has a redesigned seat for 2005.
Moving over to the Monster lineup, the sporty Monster S4R is joined for 2005 by the new Monster S2R. The S2R uses the same chassis and suspension as the S4R, but uses an 800cc air-cooled motor instead of the 998cc liquid-cooled unit found in the S4R.
