Honda has introduced a 2013 CBR600RR sportbike with relatively modest updates, including new styling, new ram-air intake system and revised fuel injection settings. The 41mm Showa Big Piston Fork is also new, as is the rear shock. New color schemes this year include a Repsol edition model.
Take a look at Honda’s web site for additional details. Below is the full press release from Honda:
The lineage behind the CBR600RR boasts ongoing track-tested, championship-winning advancements in form and function that have kept this machine at the forefront of the 600cc Supersport class. This newly redesigned CBR600RR delivers stronger engine output for an elevated level of performance, a brand-new front suspension featuring Honda’s 41mm Big Piston Fork for exceptional handling and supple action, plus all-new MotoGP-inspired bodywork that’s a product of race-tested aerodynamic design. It all adds up to a sportbike that leads the way, whether it’s at the track or just a fun afternoon ride on your favorite backroads.
New for 2013
- Redesigned, centrally located ram-air intake system and improved ECU and PGM-DSFI setting deliver more power in the midrange and enhanced throttle response in the high-rpm range.
- New 41mm Showa Big Piston Fork (BPF) features a larger damper piston that generates damping forces at lower internal pressures to allow for smoother, more responsive fork action. Adjustable for spring preload plus compression and rebound damping adjustability.
- Unit Pro-Link® rear suspension features a revised shock with new damper settings for improved overall performance.
- Using knowledge gained from the Honda RC212V MotoGP race program, aerodynamic improvements were made to this newest CBR600RR, which shows a 6.5 percent decrease in drag over the previous model. The development and testing used with this all-new CBR600RR bodywork, in turn, led to aerodynamic advancements that have been incorporated into the current RC213V MotoGP racing machine.
- This newly found aerodynamic efficiency lends itself to more agile handling and improved wind deflection for enhanced rider comfort.
- Repsol Edition racing colors available for the first time ever on the CBR600RR (standard model only).
- Standard model available in Red, Repsol Edition or White/Blue/Red. C-ABS model available in Red only.
- Transferable one-year, unlimited-mileage limited warranty; extended coverage available with a Honda Protection Plan.

still no references to Moto2 in the marketing of the 600RR. not sure if i fault honda for this…? or give them credit…?
I love how the new ninja 300 has a slipper clutch and the honda 600 still does not, this is still just the same bike as the 2007, i guess in hondas mind it is all new, so aside from color changes, this is also the 2017 and 2018 600.
Umm, WHAT?
Under engine exhaust,
LED lights,
IPhone quality dash(WTF?), and Ohlins esq suspensions make a truely innovative design?
If you are refering to the engine-as-a-stressed-member-chassis as a innovation then, it was innovative when Norton did it more than 50 years ago.
Novelty for the sake of being different ain’t no innovation. It’s wanking.
Is it me or does that lower fairing look like a carbon copy of the 04-05 CBR1000 lower fairing?
It looks bulky but I like the front….but still the same basic 600 design from 07…..and the same basically for the 1000 too from 08….
Times are tough for sure…. but me thinks that ’14 could be spectacular for Honda
they seem to be holding their fire
Boah, Blah on this warmed over over Honda. Why can’t any of the big 4 show any true innovation? Look at what the Italians are up to. Freaking Ducati probably made the worlds most beautiful motorcycle, Panigale. Big performance and true innovation.
The tired little CBR still has the under tail exhaust, very dated. Why not an under engine exhaust, LED lights, IPhone quality dash, Ohlins esq suspension, truly innovative design?
sure, they can do all that, but then comes the question of… are you willing to pay open class money for a 600…? no free lunch. that’s for elementary school cafeterias.
