Now that Valentino Rossi has done the apparently impossible — beating all six of the great riders thrown at him by Honda to take the title for Yamaha, what else is left to say about Rossi?
Now with six World titles (four in the premier class — three MotoGP and one 500 GP) Rossi continues to cement his status as one of the greatest roadracers of all time, if not the greatest. He has already broken the record for most wins in a season by a Yamaha rider in the premier class (he has won eight so far — remember, there is one race left). On a bike that wasn’t supposed to win against the deepest field of talent ever assembled in the premier class (including those six aboard the mighty Honda V-5).
As we have already stated, the move by Colin Edwards from Honda to Yamaha next year will only strengthen Yamaha’s MotoGP efforts, and further refine the Yamaha MotoGP machine. Yamaha’s next goal is the manufacturer’s MotoGP championship (won handily by Honda again this year). Don’t count Yamaha out on this goal, either.
