Just as things were getting boring (and on the heels of our article saying so), the AMA Supercross series sprang to life in San Diego last weekend when Yamaha’s Chad Reed chased down Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael from as much as eight seconds back to take the victory and end Carmichael’s win streak.
As these two riders lapped all the way up to fourth place, it was clear that they have reached a level beyond everyone else. If James Stewart can join the show in a few weeks, it will be even more interesting. For now, Reed has found some additional speed and appears ready to challenge Carmichael the rest of the year.
