Follow this link to MXLarge.com to see how young American Mike Alessi performed in his first meeting against some of the top GP riders in France last weekend. In three races, aboard his KTM 450, Alessi placed 5/3/5 for fourth overall. He could not match the pace of former World champions Joel Smets (still recovering from injury and illness) or Mickael Pichon. Overall winner Josh Coppins (also a GP veteran) had the best of everyone except Picnon and Smets in race one. Stephan Everts did not attend this pre-season race.
Alessi should be a contender for the AMA 125 Outdoor motocross title later this year, after he races a few GPs in Europe.
