Practice for tomorrow’s AMA 250 motocross series opener at Hangtown in Sacramento, California seemed to go according to the script. In the end, the rougher the track got, the faster Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) got.
In the second practice involving the top 250 class riders (when the track was pretty beat), Ricky Carmichael was quicker than rivals James Stewart (Kawasaki), Chad Reed (Yamaha) and Kevin Windham (Honda). Carmichael, of course, will race the new Suzuki RM-Z450 for the first time tomorrow in Hangtown’s two motos.
As expected, James Stewart is aboard a two-stroke KX250 competing primarily against four-stroke 450s. MD will have a report on the Hangtown race results tomorrow evening.
