Both defending champ Chad Reed (Yamaha) and Honda star Kevin Windham will miss this weekend’s U.S. Open Supercross event in Las Vegas. Reed only recently began practicing on his bike following surgical removal of pins in his wrist, and Windham is recovering from hernia repair surgery.
The other two superstars of the Supercross class, defending AMA Supercross champion Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) and James Stewart (Kawasaki) will battle over two nights this weekend in Las Vegas with a host of other top riders for the $100,000 first place cash prize.
Competition will also be held inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the Supercross Lites and 85cc divisions.
