There is a good reason why BMW, KTM, Suzuki, Honda and Triumph all build “big trailies” . . . large-displacement dual sport bikes. That reason is money. Although perhaps still a niche market, it has been a profitable one for these manufacturers, and there are indications that this market will grow.
Kawasaki has been selling the V-Strom 1000 under an arrangement with Suzuki, but that will end. To compete in this market, Kawasaki and Yamaha will have to build new bikes from the ground up. If the popularity of this segment continues to grow, expect it.
