When Kawasaki and Suzuki ended their cooperation on motocross bike development last year, Kawasaki introduced an all-new 250, while Suzuki was left with a carry-over model — the 2006 RM-Z250. Suzuki needed an extra year to develop its own 250cc motocrosser.
A prototype of the 2007 Suzuki RM-Z250 made its race debut at the All-Japan Motocross championships last week. The bike is pictured above. Expectations that the 2007 RM-Z250 will be dramatically improved were backed up by the performance of Yohei Kojima, who raced the all-new machine to an overall victory with 2/1 moto scores.
While Suzuki has not officially announced that this prototype will be the basis for a 2007 production model, there is little doubt that it is. We hope to have the chance to ride the 2007 RM-Z250 shortly after it becomes available.
