Irvine, Calif. (August 17, 2013) – The state of Utah has proven to be golden for Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto as he wrapped up the 2013 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross 450 Class Championship Saturday at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City. His second career 450cc motocross title comes on the heels of Villopoto clinching the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross Championship in April at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Saturday’s championship marks Villopoto’s ninth career professional AMA title, including three consecutive supercross crowns and two motocross championships in three years.
“Today was a really good day for me and the team,” said Villopoto. “At the beginning of the year my goals were to recapture the outdoor title after missing last year with my injury, as well as winning a third straight supercross championship. I’ve accomplished my goals for this year and now it’s time to celebrate a little before getting back to work to defend both titles.”
