AURORA, Ill. (November 11, 2013) – Feld Motor Sports® and FOX Sports announce today a five-year agreement to telecast Feld’s premier motor sports stadium and arena properties Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, Monster Jam®, AMSOIL Arenacross and the Monster Energy Cup on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 beginning in January 2014.
FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2, launched in August by FOX Sports, are set to deliver more than 291 hours of Feld Motor Sports property programming per year to their multi-sport audience. FOX Sports 1 is available in more than 90 million homes and FOX Sports 2 is in more than 40 million. Included in the agreement, in which IMG Media represented Feld Motor Sports in the negotiations, are 115 hours of original programming and 51 hours of live coverage.
“FOX Sports’ broad-reaching, multi-sport audience is a perfect fit for our motorsports properties that will position Monster Energy Supercross, Monster Jam, AMSOIL Arenacross and the Monster Energy Cup on a premier television platform,” said Ken Hudgens Chief Operating Officer, Feld Entertainment. “Their award-winning coverage will elevate each property to a production and programming level never seen before. This is a great day for motor sports fans.”
“It’s wonderful to secure a long-term relationship with our friends at Feld Motor Sports,” said FOX Sports EVP David Nathanson. “Feld is among the best in the business at filling stadiums and other venues around the country with high-energy, fully engaged fans. Their events make for tremendously exciting sports television and they fit perfectly into what we are building with FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.”
Additionally, FOX Sports will provide digital coverage of all four Feld properties on the motor sports channel of FOXSports.com, reaching 40 million unique users per month.
In 2014, 13 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship races will air live on FOX Sports 1 starting January 4, at the season opener from Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., with re-airings on FOX Sports 2, which will air three live races. Monster Energy Supercross is seen in person by nearly 850,000 spectators per year, and when combined with expanding international television distribution and the FOX Sports 1 live coverage, the overall audience in 2014 will hit record numbers. Monster Energy Supercross is the premier 17-race off-road motorcycle racing championship that takes place in stadiums across North America.
Monster Jam, the largest touring monster truck property in the world with more than 350 performances and 4 million in live attendance annually, will air 26 hours of original programming on FOX Sports 1 followed by a minimum of two re-airings on FOX Sports 2. Monster Jam is a live event spectacle like none other, which along with a strong mass retail consumer products offering and new television package on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2, is primed for tremendous growth.
AMSOIL Arenacross, featuring Ricky Carmichael’s Road to Supercross, will have all 12 rounds of the arena-based North American off-road motorcycle series broadcast on FOX Sports 1, including re-airs on Fox Sports 2. The all new AMSOIL Arenacross has been recently re-vamped and is the official feeder system to Monster Energy Supercross. The racing begins in Worcester, Mass, on January 3, 2014 and the championship culminates in Salt Lake City on March 30.
The Monster Energy Cup, from Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium, features a track design inspired by 15-time AMA National Champion Ricky Carmichael. The race will be telecast live on FOX Sports 2, with re-airs on FOX Sports 1. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $1 million prize for any rider who wins all three Main Events.
