If you are still wondering if Ducati’s Casey Stoner is the real deal, look at the manner in which he completely dominated practice and qualifying on the new surface at Laguna Seca. Beginning yesterday, and ending with qualifying this afternoon, Stoner has always been the fastest man on the track, and second place generally has not been very close behind. Dani Pedrosa (Honda) will line up second tomorrow, with Suzuki’s Chris Vermeulen rounding out the front row.
Valentino Rossi (Yamaha) qualified fifth, and will start from the second row just behind Nicky Hayden (Honda).
