No official word from Kawasaki yet on James Stewart’s knee injury suffered at Washougal a week and a half ago. It was interesting that Kawasaki pulled both of its factory riders (Stewart and Tim Ferry) from the X Games event last weekend. Presumably, Kawasaki is hedging its bets. Stewart might have trouble with his knee injury, and second place Tim Ferry could earn a championship for Kawasaki this year, instead.
If Stewart is injured to the point where he will not compete effectively in the remaining four rounds of the AMA Motocross series, a relatively close points battle could ensue between Tim Ferry (currently with 283 points), Honda’s Andrew Short (275 points), Yamaha’s Grant Langston (256 points), and KTM’s Mike Alessi (254 points).
We should know soon whether Stewart will be riding this weekend in Millville, but even if he does ride, we will not know how he is feeling until the racing starts.
