In a press release issued several weeks ago (before Laguna Seca), Kawasaki seemed quite confident it would soon announce the signing of a multi-time MotoGP winner for its 2008 MotoGP team. It was suspected then, and confirmed now, that Kawasaki was talking about Loris Capirossi (currently with Ducati).
Now, it is widely reported that Capirossi is weighing offers from both Suzuki and Kawasaki for 2008. If Kawasaki thought it had a handshake deal with Capirossi, it apparently was a bit too optimistic.
In any event, Capirossi will have to make up his mind soon, as both teams will be anxious to finalize their 2008 line-up within the next couple of weeks.
