Indian Motorcycle Joins the Industry in Promoting Motorcycle Safety Month With Important Reminders on a Safe Riding Season

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — May 30, 2014 — Indian Motorcycle®, America’s first motorcycle company, reminds riders that May is Motorcycle Safety Month, and joins the greater motorcycle industry in raising awareness with both riders and non-riders of motorcycle safety. Indian Motorcycle encourages all riders to seek out regular professional skills development and safety training no matter how many miles they have ridden as riding skills must be consistently reinforced and practiced in a controlled environment. Information about existing national programs such as the Motorcycle Safety Foundation can be found at www.msf-usa.org, and many states and regions have training organizations including Streetmasters (www.streetmasters.info) and Total Control (www.totalcontroltraining.net).

As one part of its steadfast commitment to rider safety, Indian Motorcycle’s new line of apparel offers an array of safety features and technologies to protect riders, including motorcycle jackets with built-in CE-approved armor and stitching designed to help survive abrasion. Indian Motorcycle also offers a line of DOT approved helmets and a selection of technically advanced riding gloves for additional protection. The Indian Motorcycle engineering team never rides without full gear including a helmet, protective jacket, long pants, over-the-ankle boots and protective gloves, and encourages all motorcycle enthusiasts to do the same.

In addition to promoting ongoing skills development and rider safety, Indian Motorcycle encourages automobile drivers to be particularly vigilant in looking out for motorcyclists as the summer riding season ramps up. A motorcycle’s smaller size and diminished profile means they can often be overlooked on the road or in a driver’s blind spot.

“Our entire team at Indian Motorcycle is dedicated to the safety and security of our riders with features liked standard ABS and included roadside assistance on our entire lineup, along with a full line of apparel for the ultimate in rider safety and comfort,” said Steve Menneto, VP of Motorcycles for Polaris Industries. “We encourage all riders to constantly upgrade their skills and safety training, and we ask everyone to start seeing motorcycles and give riders your full courtesy and respect on the roads we all share.”
