Defending champ Marc Marquez Honda) won his sixth straight race from pole position today, but this one was a struggle. A near race-long battle with Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) ended with a narrow victory for Marquez. Lorenzo finished second while his teammate Valentino Rossi finished third.
it was interesting to read the comments of Marquez and Lorenzo after the race, as it appears Lorenzo was carrying more corner speed than Marquez, while Marquez had more power (and a taller sixth gear) to close the gap, and even pass Lorenzo on the front straight.

On the other hand, I have nothing against Marquez continuing his winning ways if he’s got it in him and he’s able to fend off all comers. Someone else does not need to beat him to the finish line to make the series enjoyable. I’d like to think that Lorenzo will begin to put up a good fight at least, if he wins some, great, but he doesn’t have to win some just to make the racing interesting. But then, I root for the hardware too and its development.
Great race and pretty happy to see consistent television coverage. I’m not quite as into watching the previous race, just to be reminded MM won again! but I’m happy nonetheless, as all should be.
I’m one of the minority that misses the AMA races as well, but considering the debacle of yesterday’s race, it sounds like it would have been too painful to watch…
Either way, great to see JL get his confidence back and fight like we know he can. I didn’t pick the right Yamaha to be fighting but at least Rossi still showing his stuff. Has anyone ever been to Mugello for race day? That and Jerez have to be on my bucket list…

Nice to know the doc is being consistent, hope he gets one of the remaining two championship positions for GP this year (the only way first place to get into other hands but MM is to have a OVNI to take him back home)
FS!? – I don’t know why they run the previous race before the present event. It doesn’t bother me as I record to a DVR and quickly moved to the current race when I watch the racing later in the evening when I get home from my own racing or riding. I am happy to see any extended coverage of MotoGP. The back story on Rossi’s 300th was great to see. ONE THING I MISS – Post race interviews… I WISH WISH WISH they covered that. Even if it was from the previous event tacked onto the pre-race coverage.
I don’t know if the rule changes are creating more exciting racing but I was happy to see Ducati up front for a short time. This was an exciting race and there is no denying that Marquez is riding the wheels of that Honda. Great stuff.
I miss the interviews also. The way the kid rides, hard and clean, you wouldn’t see Lorenzo biting his lip while describing the race. Good to see the Ducs up front for a while. Kinda like Sykes on the Kaw for a few years, fast enough, just uses up the tires quickly. Having to use the softest tires to keep it on the track at the limit doesn’t make for a long race. Rossi used a soft one to qualify and screwed up. He can race on a hard front and wait for all to waste their tires, if he’s in a position to use it. Good dice for 1st. Wish they had more company.

Now I also run Motogp.com on my computer at the same time for the different camera angles which can get a little weird when they come back from commercial and the lap count is off a bit.
I just wish they would pick up WSBK as well.

+3. I used to get GP, WSB,SX,MX, now I just get SX and GP. Pretty good race this time. Hope it continues. Maybe Pedrosa and Rossi find a little more and Ducati finds another Stoner.
I think Iannone might just be the guy. Dovi is a very cool customer and will be invaluable in getting the best position out of the Ducati. If and when the improvements come, those two will be important to break the existing monopoly.

Sounds like you don’t have much to say about Pedrosa? As far as Lorenzo goes, I’ll think he’s found his pace when he once again shows consistancy at the frontin races to come. Up until now he’s been in quite the slump this year. But, it was fun to see someone put extra pressure on Marquez.
Thank god there was the battle between Lorenzo and Marquez…….if you look at the time gaps this year, you could as well let Marquez, Lorenzo, Pedrosa and Rossi ride in a 4-man championship and create a “turle” class for the other riders.

That said, it is clear that there are 4 bikes with any chance of winning. That has been the same for a loooong time. Changing tire suppliers back to Michelin in 2016 will be pretty interesting as the Ducati guys were competitive on those the last time they had them.

As far as Flat Track is concerned, it would be nice if a cable network (that I could get) carried it, however, I watched the live webcast of the Springfield Mile last week and must say that they did an excellent job. Production values seemed to be on par or better than any previous cable network coverage of Flat Track.

I do. Repsol (ie. the people who actually pay his salary) still want him, and if they get him at the rumoured price reduction…? it’s a win for everybody. Honda (like most smart teams) aren’t interested in any sort of internal challenger to Marcus, and Dan can’t survive outside the “hedge of protection” afforded him by Repsol.

A: i think to classify it as either “like” or “hate” would be missing the greater issue at hand. we’re WAAAAAY past that now. the greater issue is, BEGGARS can’t be CHOOSERS. and as if to make my point, M2 and M3 just went 5 rounds without being televised.
ponder this scenario…
what if (same as M2/M3) the 2014 season of MotoGP had started off not being televised…? how could one ever hope to form an opinion of any kind (nevermind “hate vs like”) on something they don’t have the luxury of being able to watch…?

It seems that outside of Lorenzo and Rossi, nobody can (ref: Honda).
Nice battle between Jorge and Marquez. Some close racing, I like it. Jorge has found his pace, and it seems like Rossi is hanging onto his. He battled through the pack well, but just couldn’t quite make it to the two up front. I think if he would have qualified better he may have challenged for the lead. Anyway it’s nice to see Rossi higher in the points standings than Pedrosa now. Show of hands – who here thinks HRC will show him another contract at this point?
