Aprilia took the honors when the WSB Championship visited Sepang this weekend, with teammates Marco Melandri and Sylvain Guintoli finishing first and second in each race. In Race 1, Eugene Laverty (Suzuki) took third, while defending champ Tom Sykes (Kawasaki) filled out the podium in Race 2.
Some very exciting racing was mixed with controversy when Loris Baz (Kawasaki) crashed and took out his teammate Sykes early during Race 1. In addition to Sykes podium, Baz managed a 5th place finish in Race 2, but Sykes points lead in the championship was nearly wiped out as a result of his DNF in Race 1. Sykes still leads, but his gap over 2nd place Guintoli has been reduced to 13 points.

I’m surprised both Marco and Sylvain are smiling. Sylvain just got his head handed to him by the up and comer. Expect to see a relationship like between Spies and Mladin when they were on Suzukis.
“Melandro”… the one racer with the chops to put a whoopin’ on Marcus. only problem is, he’s currently in the wrong series to do that.
