The radical changes to Kawasaki’s 2008 ZX-10R should give you some idea of just how different the 2009 ZX-6R will be from the current model. It is now standard practice for Japanese manufacturers to update their models every two years in the supersport category, and Kawasaki’s turn to revise the ZX-6R arrives this fall with the 2009 model year.
The current bike is very good, but it is on the porky side. Emissions requirements, and other considerations, caused the current model to actually gain weight when it was first introduced for the 2007 model year. Expect a substantially lighter bike, with better power everywhere on the tach. Aesthetically, the bike should resemble the new ZX-10R to some extent.
