Honda’s Nicky Hayden persevered and, with a last-lap pass of points leader Mat Mladin (Suzuki), won his first AMA Superbike race of the year at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course today. Honda’s Miguel Duhamel finished third. Kawasaki’s Eric Bostrom had a rear tire problem which had him returning to the pits for a mid-race tire change that ultimately took a clean third place victory away, and left him finishing the race in thirteenth place.
Mladin stretches his championship points lead over Bostrom to 46 points.
