Valentino Rossi at the Monza Rally: One of the Best Passes We Have Ever Seen

120214top-i

Valentino Rossi is primarily known for racing motorcycles, of course, but he is also a fantastic automobile racer who has won the Monza rally event three times, dicing with the likes of rally GOAT Sébastien Loeb. He has even tested with the Ferrari F1 team.

This year’s Monza rally just ended, and Rossi came up short by losing in the final to former F1 racer Robert Kubica. You can see Rossi compete against Kubica for best time in the bottom video, but take a look at the first video to see one of the best passes ever made, two wheels or four, by Rossi during a preliminary round.

2 or 4 wheels, he makes racing entertaining, and that’s really the goal of these sports.

  2. gino says:

because stoner sucked at car racing/ and rossi did not try dirt race /who are you stoners fan club prez

    • Scotty says:

No, but I don’t have a hatred for any particular racer. Anyone who wins 2 world titles is worthy of some respect.

      • gino says:

True, just wish he had a better attitude.would love to see him back ,be intresting.

        • Scotty says:

Fair enough Gino. I was a fan of Doohan but in the end his endless winning was a bit boring, but probably my favorite racers were Wayne Gardner, Micheal Dowson, Rob Phillis, Mal Campbell, Mick Cole, and the incomparable Joey Dunlop (saw him race at the TT in 2000 – what a master).

I have hardly seen a racer that hasn’t complained about something!

  3. tpizzle says:

rossi is impressive but kubica is awesome. so crisp, so clean, so fast…

  4. Vrooom says:

Man you don’t see cars corner like that too often! If Mr. Rossi needs a co-navigator I’d be happy to offer my services, but Italian is probably a requirement, as is talent.

  5. Hot Dog says:

Sure beats the Hillbilly racing that we have in America.

  6. Brinskee says:

Wow what awesome footage and what an exciting race! And Rossi… The guy never fails to amaze us with Hus ability to excel in any type of motor racing. It’s just in his brain, his heart, his hands, his DNA. The guy was made to compete with motor powered vehicles. We’re so lucky to have been part of his career as spectators. What an inspiration.

  7. gino says:

he would kick stoners ass in a car/just sayin

    • Scotty says:

And why would you just say that? Stoner would kick his arse on a dirt track motorcycle. Just saying.

  8. mickey says:

Thats amazing, they look like slot cars

  9. schmoe90 says:

The overtake, while excellent, was after a blue flag.

    • Dirck Edge says:

Not clear to me, but that blue flag may have been intended for someone coming out of pit lane.

    • Gutterslob says:

If the blue flag really was meant for the driver in front of Rossi, then he really should have moved off-line before the corner, me thinks. Either way, still a great pass by Rossi.

      On a side note;
Am I the only one who has been disappointed by the neutering of most rally championships? What’s with this normally aspirated crap. Bring back the turbos and homologation for road-going cars!!

      • Scotty says:

I dunno mate, at the time I thought the loss of the ultimate rally cars like the Metro VR6, Lancia Delta Integrale, RS200 etc was a big loss – but I think the cars now are probably faster and certainly les people die. I have seen an RS200 up close – and I will always want one – over and above any GT40 or Italian or German exotica.
