Honda’s Nicky Hayden continued his domination of AMA Superbike Racing by winning the second half of the Sears Point double header Sunday. Incredibly, Hayden has won 8 of the last 9 AMA Superbike races (including a string at the end of last year), and 4 of the 5 races this year. Following Hayden home was Aaron Yates (Suzuki) in second, and Miguel DuHamel (Honda) in third.
Hayden’s closest pursuer in the championship series, Yamaha’s Anthony Gobert, did not finish the race. Gobert had a strange near-crash that damaged his bike. Although still in second place in the series, Gobert has fallen further adrift of Hayden in the points standings.
In the 600 Supersport race, Yates finished first, ahead of Gobert. Yates has a commanding points lead after winning all three 600 Supersport races held this year.
