Honda’s Ricky Carmichael did the unthinkable today by winning both motos at the Steel City AMA Chevy Trucks 250 U.S. Motocross round. By doing so, Carmichael completed a perfect season — winning all 24 motos of the championship series. This has never been done before in AMA Motocross history. Finishing second and third on the day, respectively, were Tim Ferry (Yamaha) and Mike LaRocco (Honda), the two remaining members (along with Carmichael) of the U.S. Motocross des Nations team.
The new 125 champion, James Stewart (Kawasaki) won both motos in his division today. This allowed Stewart to set a new record for wins in a single season in the 125 class (ten wins). Ernesto Fonseca (Honda) finished second on the day with Matt Walker (Kawasaki) third.
