This Week in Monster Energy Supercross: Race 2 in San Diego, CA

Monster Energy SX 011516

450SX Class

  • Jason Anderson gave Husqvarna its first ever 450SX Class Main Event win. It’s the eighth different brand in history to win in the premier class.
  • Anderson became the 60th different winner in 450SX Class history. He is the third rider since 2009 to win his inaugural Main Event at the Anaheim Opener (Josh Grant & Ken Roczen).
  • Anderson will look to become the first rider since 2007 (James Stewart) to win the first two races in a season.
  • Anaheim marked just the second time all six brands were represented in the top six. The only other time this happened was Phoenix in 2015.
  • Six different riders held a podium spot for at least one lap during the Anaheim Main Event.
  • Ryan Dungey is currently in the midst of a 17-race podium streak dating back to last season.
  • Chad Reed has made a 450SX Class start for 15 consecutive seasons, tying him with Nick Wey. Only Mike LaRocco (18 seasons) and Kevin Windham (17 seasons) have more.
  • Reed will move into a tie with Larry Ward for third on the all-time 450SX Class starts list in San Diego.
