The showdown between Honda’s Ricky Carmichael and Yamaha’s Chad Reed finally developed in Anaheim this evening, but not until Honda privateer Michael Byrne rode well enough to lead the first half of the race. With Carmichael and Reed in first and second place for roughly the last eight laps before the checkered flag, and often just a few bike lengths separating them, Carmichael took the win with a bike length over Reed, while Yamaha’s David Vuillemin charged through the pack after a poor start to finish third.
In the 125 Western Region main event, Kawasaki’s James Stewart again dominated the race — taking his fourth straight win. Defending series champion Travis Preston (Honda) came from a mid-pack start to finish second.
Reed continues to lead the THQ World Supercross GP, while Carmichael leads the AMA 250 Supercross series. Stewart now has a sizeable lead in the 125 Western Region series. Take a look at the official THQ World Supercross GP site for additional details and points.
