Suzuki’s Mat Mladin dominated the opening race of the California Speedway Superbike double header today, with teammate Aaron Yates finishing second. Indeed, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 superbikes fielded by the Yoshimura Suzuki team had the measure of all rivals today, as Mladin and Yates appeared to pull away from the field with relative ease. Mladin finished the race with a huge margin over Yates, while Yates had a significant margin over the third place battle between brothers Ben Bostrom (Honda) and Eric Bostrom (Kawasaki). Ben Bostrom was awarded third place despite crossing the finish line behind his brother due to a ruling by the AMA regarding an off-track excursion by Eric.
