The 9th Round of the WorldSBK Championship ends with a bitter taste for Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse, with Leon Camier forced to retire because of a technical problem at the clutch.
During the morning warmup the Italian based squad worked hard on the setup of the F4 RC machine ahead of Race2, and Leon Camier managed to ends in 10th position the warmup session with a 1’24.244 lap time, just 0.8s from the first.
After placing 1st in Saturday’s Superpole1 and getting the 12th place in Superpole2, today Camier started again from the fourth row on the grid. When the lights went out, the Brit started very fast but a mechanical problem with the clutch of his bike forced him to retire from the race during the very first lap, while he was in 10th position. Camier is currently 8th in Championship Standing with 110 points.
With the American round concluded, the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship is getting ready for a long summer break, which will see the Team MV Agusta Reparto Corse back on track in Lausitzring, Germany, from 16 to 18 September.
Leon Camier #2 – For sure I am very disappointed, because since the warmup we found a good bike setting and in Race2 I am sure I would had the chance to fight for the top10. Unfortunately these things happen and all we can do now is stay focused, continue the bike development and get ready for the last races of this Championship.
