The German round of the WSB championship this weekend saw a dry Race 1 dominated by Ducati’s Chaz Davies, who won by more than 10 seconds over second place Tom Sykes (Kawasaki), who beat third place Nicky Hayden (Honda) to the flag. Points leader Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) crashed out unhurt.
Rea came back on Sunday to take the win in wet conditions after teammate Sykes crashed on the opening lap (he re-mounted to finish 12th). With eight riders crashing out of the race, some unusual faces filled out the podium. Alex de Angelis (Aprilia) took second place ahead of Xavi Fores (Ducati) in third.

Such a long delay from the last race to this one. WSB is fast becoming a boring series. Years ago it was a place to see good close racing but lately, too much running away at the front. The long break doesn’t help either.

seriously, what the “frick” is the story with that gearbox.
It’s strange that Nicky didn’t do better than 10th in the wet conditions on the second race.
I don’t know what happened to Hayden. He started on the front row but ended up way back in like 20th very early on, so he must have gotten tangled up in some incident. Or maybe he just couldn’t make the bike work in the conditions. His teammate had a pretty serious crash late in the race and still managed to finish ahead of Hayden on a badly mangled bike.
He did get a bad start then later in the race he had to take to the runoff road when Alex Lowes went down in front of him. So he had some make up to do to get back to 10th.
The first race was a runaway and the second a soggy crash fest but the Supersport race was a cracker. Keep a lookout for 20 year old Niki Tuuli from Finland. He finished a close second to Sofouglu in only his second WSS start on an R6 after hounding the Turk for the whole race! Can’t wait to see what he does on next year’s R6.
