• Dramatic Turnaround: After starting the season with 5th, 6th, and 8th place finishes for an average result of 6.3 and a fifth-place standing in points, Eli Tomac’s dominant victory in Glendale lowered his average more than a full position and vaulted him to third in points.
• A Long Awaited Return: Chad Reed’s runner-up finish in Glendale ended a 12-race podium drought. It is the longest gap between podiums in his legendary 15-year 450SX Class career. The result added to his all-time record total of podiums, which now sits at 131.
• Surge Up the Standings: With his season-best effort Reed also moved into the top-10 in points for the first time in 2017, surpassing four riders to move from 11th to 7th.
• Unparalleled Reliability: Ryan Dungey’s 3rd-place finish in Glendale marked just the eighth time since the start of the 2015 season, 38 races ago, that he’s failed to finish first or second. He’s finished on the podium in 36 of those 38 races.
• Orange Assault: RMATV/MC-WPS-KTM riders Davi Millsaps and Blake Baggett both enjoyed season-best efforts in Glendale, finishing 5th and 7th, respectively, which helped put four KTM’s inside the top 10. Baggett was also the fastest qualifier for the first time in his 450SX Class career, with Millsaps posting the third-best time.
• Global Lineup: After starting the 2017 season as a privateer, Scotsman Dean Wilson will become the third rider at Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing starting in Oakland, joining American Jason Anderson and Frenchman Christophe Pourcel.

• A Historic Triumph: Justin Hill’s second straight win last weekend also marked a major milestone for his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team, which earned its 250th racing victory. That total includes both supercross and motocross disciplines for the most successful team in the history of the sport.
• In It to Win It: Despite getting passed late and settling for a runner-up finish in Glendale, championship leader Shane McElrath has put the pressure on his rivals by running up front all season. He’s the only rider with podium finishes at each round and boasts the best starting and finishing averages in the division.
• Progression: Rookie Austin Forkner has improved at every round this season, both out of the gate and at the finish. That progression culminated with the best start of his young career, his first laps led, and his podium debut in Glendale.
• The Value of a Start: Aaron Plessinger boasts three podiums and the third-best finishing average in the division, but his 6.2 starting average is the lowest of the top seven riders in the championship, forcing him to pass more than three riders a race. He started 9th in Glendale, passing five riders en route to 4th.
