Reed (250) and Tedesco (125) Victorious at Anaheim Supercross

If recent shoulder surgery has slowed Yamaha’s Chad Reed, it sure didn’t look like it tonight in Anaheim at the opening round of the AMA Supercross series. With nearly half a lap on second place at the checkered flag, Reed destroyed the field, while being followed home by Yamaha teammates David Vuillemin and Tim Ferry, in second and third place, respectively.

In the 125 Western Region main event, Ivan Tedesco (Kawasaki) beat Nathan Ramsey (Honda) to the checkered flag, with Stephan Roncada (Kawasaki) finishing third. The 125 class was completely dominated by 250cc four-stroke machines, and filled the stadium with about twice the noise of the 250 class machines (still largely two-strokes).

Other notable events this evening include a heavy crash by KTM factory rider Grant Langston during the main event. Langston was removed on a stretcher. We have no word on his condition at this point.

Additionally, privateer Tyler Evans (Suzuki) showed remarkable speed all night in the 250 class (finishing 6th in the main event). Evans diced with several of the top factory riders, both in his heat race and in the main event.

Round two of the AMA Supercross series is next Saturday evening in Phoenix, Arizona. Look at the official supercross web site here for additional details, results and points.
