First up is the 2016 Honda Africa Twin shot by Kevin Wing (see photo at top). Next is Yamaha’s YZF-R1 (model year 2015) – note, all of the following photos are shot by MD staff, or photographers on exclusive assignment for MD.
Here is the 2014 Yamaha FZ-09.
Moto Guzzi’s Eldorado, model year 2016.
The 2017 Kawasaki Ninja 650 ABS.

The only reason I can think that I would want an ADV bike, and actually take it on anything more than smooth gravel/dirt roads, would be to reach places with views like those in the first picture in this series. That’s some kind of view!
Excellent Idea ! Life is Beautiful Behind Bars !
iirc, there is/was a BOSS wheelie shot of a green Ninja 1000 sport-tourer test from a year or 3 ago that may or may not be worthy of this thread…? said vehicle operator may or may not have been wearing one of those classic black Vanson jackets (ie. Fall River Ma.) at the moment of “indiscretion”, you know, the one with the yellow oval logos on the shoulders…?
oh and there were some other EPIC shots in regards to lighting in that review, shots that still have me pining to this day for that particular model year/colorway Zed. you’ll have to forgive me if i’ve gotten some of the details wrong, me memory tends to be fuzzy about these sorts of things.
You have a good memory. I think I know the rider in question.
You mean this guy:

Yup.
IN YOUR FACE BLURRY FZ9 WHEELIE SHOT…!!! LOL
That opener looks like the White Rim trail at Canyonlands, with the LaSal mountains in the background.
Great idea. Thanks for posting these. I look forward to the next round of photos.
The first 3 photos are works of art, but the Africa Twin is the best.
Why no paddock girls?
Winnah!
MD aces it. Have to agree, of all these great images, the Africa Twin is my favorite.
Saw Toto live last year, fantastic outdoor venue in Sandy, Utah. Highlight was “Africa.” Guitarist Steve Lukather kills it. Seeing Lukather again this October in Vegas, with Ringo Starr and Todd Rundgren.
Only one wheelie shot? Aw man, you’re slacking off!!
Love the lead photo.. most of my favorite personal pictures have my cycle placed somewhere in the scene! Combination of nature and machine just works in my mind.
Love the site, and love the photography!
wholeheartedly agree..bikes with stunning nature backdrops (somewhere you wish you were) are the best.
Love them photos. Keep ’em coming?
i’m in that l-o-n-g process of replacing my current scoot. the 2017 white ninja 650 abs has me drooling………….
Africa Twin photo is the best of this bunch.
The top photo of the Africa Twin is just stunning, as is the Victory Impulse photo. I like the Ninja 650 photo too.
Being a photographer myself, I appreciate great motorcycle photos. I enjoy both static and action shots. Great work – I look forward to seeing more.
