Blue skies and summer weather conditions welcomed the last two races of this MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship round at the iconic Misano World Circuit “Marco Simoncelli”, with Leon Camier performing a nine-positions comeback but forced to retire at 7 laps from the end; while PJ Jacobsen misses the WorldSSP podium for just one second, ending up 4th; Zaccone got the 2nd place in the ESS ranking and finished close to the top10 in WorldSSP.
WorldSBK – WarmUp, Race 2
The race started with some complications for Leon Camier, who is forced to an impressive comeback from the 16th position. The British rider get immediately into the rhythm again on his MV Agusta F4 RC and after a few passes he is able to get into the top10, even attaching and passing the rival Eugine Laverty for the 6th position. Unfortunately, after a comeback of 9 positions, he has to pull out of the race at 7 laps from the end due to a technical problem on the bike. Despite the zero point scored in Race 2, Leon is still the rider n°8 in the championship standings and he will be back on track from 7 to 9 July at Laguna Seca circuit in the United States.
WorldSSP – WarmUp, Race
Patrick Jacobsen made a good start from the 8th position on the grid and immediately start fighting in the top 3 area. Along the 19-lap long race, Jacobsen keeps setting lap times equal to the top three riders. Unfortunately, the tenacity of the American rider is not enough to grab the 3rd seasonal podium, with PJ going to finish in 4th final position at just 1s from the 3rd rider.
Positive test for the teammate Alessandro Zaccone who, after working long on the setup of his MV Agusta F3 675, finished in 2nd place in the ESS internal ranking and 11th in the WorldSSP class.
Leon Camier #2 WorldSBK – I had a few problem at the beginning of the race and I ended up loosing a couple of position after the start. I tried to be aggressive and I managed to get into the rhythm, passing several rider, but the bike’s setting today wasn’t that perfect and in the end I had a technical problem. For sure it wasn’t the best weekend for us but all in all I am happy with the progress we made and I think we have the potential to get some really good result.
Patrick “PJ” Jacobsen #99 WorldSSP – To be honest it wasn’t an easy weekend for me, we struggled a bit in Superpole yesterday because of some technical issues but we fixed most of them before the race. I am quite happy with the race today, even if I wish I could have done better. We have a long summer break ahead and we will work a lot to try to win some races in the final part of the championship.
Alessandro Zaccone #61 ESS – I’m very happy, we’ve made some impressive steps forward on the bike’s setup. Now we can start focusing on the engine, to fill the gap with the other top teams. Given the results we have achieved here at Misano, I’m very confident that we can do well in the upcoming races.
