Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati) will start from pole position tomorrow at Silverstone after qualifying with the quickest time on a difficult track still partially wet from rain. His teammate Andrea Dovizioso qualified in second position, with Johann Zarco (Yamaha) third.
With rain in the forecast tomorrow, the MotoGP race has been moved up on the schedule, and will run before the Moto3 and Moto2 races. This is to maximize the opportunity for a dry track during the MotoGP event.
During practice today, the riders found that the Silverstone Circuit, recently resurfaced, does not drain rain water adequately. This resulted in hydroplaning and several crashes. Tito Rabat (Ducati) seriously injured his leg with at least three fractures (including his femur). Take a look here for full qualifying results. Stay tuned for race coverage on MD tomorrow.

Canceled. It seems to me this all hinged on what happened with Rins et al. at that corner and the ineffectiveness of the carbon fibre brakes. Why do the teams not have alternative brakes — ceramic, hybrid, STEEL maybe? — that they could fit for chilly conditions like these?
I also wonder how much influence Formula 1 / Germany had on the decision to cancel rather than wait some more.
I think they have to consider Brands Hatch or Donnington Park for next year unless Silverstone does another complete resurface.
