Team Suzuki Press Office – September 5. The MotoGP World Championship has moved south to Italy for the thirteenth round of the season, held at the Marco Simoncelli World Circuit in Misano Adriatico. The Italian circuit is expected to be a crowded one, with thousands of fans ready to fill the stands.
Andrea Iannone and Alex Rins arrive in Italy with a lot of desire to race, especially due to the cancellation of the Silverstone GP two weeks ago. The Team held a private test in Aragón last week, which included test rider Sylvain Guintoli, and this gave the engineers further elements to improve, especially in the electronics and setup areas.
The GP of San Marino saw Rins make a solid and consistent race last year, while it was a disappointing one for Andrea Iannone due to a crash. This year both riders are eager to improve their results, continuing on the positive path of this year.

“We arrive in Misano after a difficult weekend in Silverstone where the race had to be cancelled, so we really want to race. We haven’t tested in Misano, although some other teams did, but we tested in Aragón last week and that was positive. It’s also been a good preparation for this race. The target is always the same: to improve our results and conclude the season in the best possible way.”

“Needless to say that Misano will be a sort of home race for me, we will be in Italy and as an Italian rider you always want to do better at home, it’s an extra motivation. I hope for a positive result, in a positive weekend where there will be a lot of fans and Suzuki enthusiasts, I’m really looking forward to this. We will need to stay focused and to work well during all the sessions, we have the potential to have a good race.”

“Missing the Silverstone race makes me feel eager to get back on my bike and get back to competition. We did a positive test last week in Aragón, where we found some improvements in settings and electronics. This will be useful not only for next year but also starting from here in Misano, where I hope we can do a good weekend. We are making solid progress, I believe it could be a good chance to further improve and get closer to the top.”
Circuit Info:
The circuit is 4.2km (2.63 miles) long, with six left-hand corners and 10 right-hand, with the longest straight being 565m (1853.67 ft) in length. The surface itself is fairly flat, without elevation changes, allowing fans to get the best view of the track action. In fact, the track is well-known for having a great atmosphere. Close to the city of Rimini, the Misano Adriatico circuit was constructed in 1972 and has since undergone an array of modifications. A fixture of Italian Grand Prix throughout the 80s and early 90s, Misano returned to the MotoGP calendar in 2007.
