Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso won his third race of the season earlier today at Misano and moved into second place in the championship standings behind Honda’s Marc Marquez, who finished second. Third place finisher Cal Crutchlow (Honda) inherited his spot on the podium when Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati) crashed with just two laps remaining while battling with Marquez.

I was most impressed with Marquez’s maturity as he did not throw it away and stretched his lead to 67 points. Honda is definitely going to need to find some more power on the top end to keep with Ducati though. It should be very interesting to see Marquez vs Lorenzo on very similar bikes next year (and Crutchlow).
I think Lorenzo will be fighting with Crutchlow and Rins at the start of next season. I’d be really surprised to see him racing with Marquez. Marquez is the best rider on the grid by a country mile..He’s riding the wheels off that Honda, and the 10-20hp Advantage of Ducati is quite evident lately.
I am now a happy subscriber to the Moto GP video pass package. Did it early Sunday morning after finding out no taped race. My first clue should have been no tape of qualifying on Saturday. Forgot to check the station. Anyhow, it was quite enjoyable, better than I thought on my laptop. Now I just have to figure out how to hook it up to the TV! Great race by the way, Dovi rode quite well, felt sorry for Lorenzo. Have not yet watched the other two races yet. It was all good after thinking I was going to have to just read the results!
I use an inexpensive device from Google called Chromecast to cast from the MotoGP app on my phone to the projector in my media room. Works great. Could also cast from any computer or laptop.
I love the video pass. I could never go back to watching network coverage.
DB, do you have a smart TV? If so, you can watch it through the internet app on it. No reason to buy a video cable to go from laptop to tv.
I have ATT-Direct TV same thing. Cancelled my Bein sports package with Direct TV
was able to watch the race recorded on Youtube
Dovisioso rode masterfully
Ponsi or whatever his name was was really slow but stayed out of the way
Fenati is an idiot, and should not be racing
A lot of people were hoping the Ducati’s would be part of the action this year, along with Honda and Yamaha. I think all the Rossi fans have left the stadium. Even Vale mentioned they dont know why the bike seems right, but in the race is slow. Sad to see Lorenzo fall, with 4 laps to go and Dovi lost .5 sec in one lap, I was on the edge of my seat, were his tires going away, would Lorenzo and Marquez catch him, it was not to be. Marquez is the alien.
Loved Crutchlow’s comments regarding Fenati. Crutchlow is always one of the best interviews.
Didn’t Fenati get booted off a team two years ago for hitting the kill switch on a competitors bike while they were practicing take offs?
Yep, that is how he lost his VR46 ride. The guy just doesn’t belong on the grid. I would think his racing career is ruined, now. That is what he deserves.
That’s only acceptable to do to one of your buddies on a weekend ride. 😉
When I went to watch the recorded race, to my dismay it turns out the AT&T U-verse is in a dispute with the content provider beIN Sports, so instead of the race a message was displayed “Unfortunately this channel is not currently available.” Bummer ! But reading the race recap, and looking at the gap times at the finish (Marquez almost 3 seconds back of Dovi, and Crutchlow another 4 seconds further back in third) it doesn’t sound like a close race, so perhaps it’s okay that I wasn’t able to watch it. Anyone else have ATT U-verse and experience this surprise ?
A very simple solution to your problem with beIN sports is to cut the cord. But keep internet service and purchase the Moto
GP video pass package. Todays race was good to watch, but now the Moto 3 race was something else. And Cal looked good and his comments about Fenati were spot on and quite entertaining.
The only problem with cutting the cord is you then need a subscription to everything you’re interested in, which if that is many things, can add up to more than not cutting the cord. I’m better off staying with xfinty/comcast. It’s less expensive than a whole bunch of individual subscriptions. The only thing I don’t get to see is motoGP.
You mean there is something else besides MotoGP? 🙂
Yes I sure did!!
Xfinity and BeIn cut their ties 2 months ago, so I haven’t seen a race since. I’ll probably get the subscription next season but I’m not even interested in the discounted rest of this season. As of now, only GP interests me. And with the Yamaha, KTM and Aprilia floundering, that interest is pretty meager.
.
Next year, I’ll actually have something else to be excited about and that is moto2 and the 765 triple engines. I think these new bikes will prove more exciting than the 600 Hondas. And in GP I’m expecting the other factories to improve satisfactorily as well.
.
TBH, I hate the BeIn coverage anyway because, for my marketplace, it’s always in pure Spanish spoken in speeds higher than a Factory Ducati can achieve. And it is also at a lower resolution than real 1080p, it’s more like 1024×576 because it is in a small box on my screen. I don’t expect that to change next season, nor do I expect Xfinity to strike another deal with them. Even if they did, I’m tired of the crappy broadcast.
I’m most impressed with Crutchlow. He’s on a satellite Honda riding against one of the best ever on a factory bike, and for most of the race was running the same lap times. Fabulous ride by Rins in 4th. Bummer to see Lorenzo crash out, but just goes to show how the best in the world have a really hard time settling on anything but a win.
“I’m most impressed with Crutchlow. He’s on a satellite Honda”
I believe Crutchlow’s new deal has him on a full factory Honda bike & HRC factory support.
Yep, the only option he doesn’t have access to is the Repsol livery. Everything else is full factory.
Hair splitting. LCR Honda is a satellite team. CC doesn’t get the carbon swingarm and who knows what else.
My understanding is that Cal has access to the swingarm (if he wants it) and any other hard parts. At least that is what he implied in past interviews. But I admittedly don’t know with certainty if that is truly the case.
