Nicky Hayden (Honda) won his first MotoGP race at Laguna Seca, California today. Hayden, who qualified on pole with a lap record yesterday, led the race from start to finish, and was never seriously challenged.
Two Yamahas chased Hayden to the checkered flag, with Colin Edwards finishing roughly two seconds behind in second place, and Valentino Rossi close behind Edwards in third. Rossi ran second to Hayden early in the race before being passed by his teammate at the entry to the famous corkscrew.
