Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki) finished his semi-perfect season at Glen Helen with 1/1 moto scores and the overall victory (that gives Carmichael every overall in the 12 rounds held this year — although, he did not win every moto). Finishing second on the day was Kevin Windham (Honda; 2/3), with Ernesto Fonseca third (Honda; 4/2). Carmichael is champion — having clinched the title at the prior round.
The 125 class was wild today. Ivan Tedesco (Kawasaki) came to the final round with a 35 point lead, and an apparent lock on the championship. In the first moto, Tedesco crashed on the first lap and failed to score any points, while Mike Alessi (KTM) won and gained 25 points on Tedesco. Tedesco ultimately took the championship by finishing 11th in the second moto (after a crash involving Alessi), while Alessi failed to score points in the second moto.
Grant Langston, aboard the brand new 2006 Kawasaki KX250F won the overall in the 125 class with 2/1 moto scores, while Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) finished second overall with 3/2 moto scores, and Andrew Short (Honda) finished third overall with 4/3 moto scores.
