With James Stewart (Kawasaki) injured, Ricky Carmichael dominated the Budds Creek round of the AMA Motocross championship with victories in both motos. Finishing second in both motos, and second overall, was Yamaha’s Chad Reed, while Kevin Windham (Honda) finished third overall with 5/3 moto scores. Carmichael has a huge points lead in the championship series.
In the Motocross Lites division, Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) had a perfect afternoon with 1/1 moto scores while finishing ahead of Broc Hepler (Suzuki) in second overall (2/6 moto scores) and Josh Grant (Honda) in third overall (with 7/3 moto scores). Points leader Mike Alessi (KTM) had an off day, finishing eighth overall. Villopoto is now just 7 points behind Alessi in the championship series.
