U.S. Open Night Two Results

Although James Stewart (Kawasaki) was unable to repeat his dominant Superpole/holeshot/race win trifecta for a second time on Saturday night, he did grab the most important of the three – backing up his Friday night win in Race One with another win in Race Two.

Second place went to Ricky Carmichael (Suzuki), who stalked Stewart on and off for most of the race after being passed for the lead on Lap 8. However, a small get-together between Stewart and Carmichael a few laps from the end widened the gap, and Ricky’s second place finish had a comfortable cushion both fore and aft. Behind Carmichael was David Vuillemin (Honda), who had led the first few laps before being passed by Stewart and Carmichael.

In the Lites class, Honda’s Josh Grant took another flag to flag win, just as he had the previous night. Jake Weimer (Honda) was second, and Tommy Hahn rounded out an all-Honda podium in third.

Both races were tallied to give overall finishing positions, with the Supercross class obviously won by James Stewart’s 1-1 performance. Ricky Carmichael was second overall with 2-2 finishes, and Kevin Windham’s 3-4 gave him third overall. In the Lites class, Josh Grant went 1-1 for first overall, with Jake Weimer (4-2) second overall and Chris Gosselaar (2-8) third.
